Throughout the academic year the Institute of Classical Studies offers on an extensive and varied events programme, comprising seminars, guest lectures and conferences; speakers are drawn from throughout the UK and around the world. Our programme encompasses the prehistory of the Aegean and western Mediterranean, Classical Antiquity, the Late Antique and Byzantine periods, as well as the Reception of Classics in art, film and literature. Each year our regular seminar series focus on specific aspects of art and archaeology, history and philosophy, languages and literature, and offer speakers and participants ample opportunity to engage in scholarly debate. Guest lectures are aimed at bringing recent discoveries and research to a wider audience, while research training events and informal workshops help to disseminate new skills and knowledge to students at all levels.
Our Diary of Events provides a complete list of all events organised by the Institute or which are presented under its aegis, in cooperation with Associated Bodies. Most take place in Senate House. Complete programmes of our Seminar Series can be downloaded as PDFs. Separate listings cover forthcoming Special Events, Conferences, and Workshops.
Programmes from previous years can be found in our Annual Reports.
